It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Audrey Anne Jesso Connors, born March 12 1957. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 4th 2025 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Audrey is predeceased by her father Lambert Jesso and lovingly survived by her husband Terry, children Taryn (Syx) and Paul (Sammie), grandchildren Spencer and Armenie, mother Ann Marie, sisters Toni and April, and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Audrey travelled extensively throughout her childhood while her father served in the Army. Eventually, her family returned to their roots in Newfoundland, where Audrey met the love of her life, Terry, in St. John’s in 1981. Despite lovingly teasing that Terry was "out of his league," their profound connection was undeniable and enduring. The couple moved to British Columbia in 1986 to make a life for their young family.
Audrey worked as a managing optician for many years in both Newfoundland and British Columbia and loved the work she did, working at Sears Optical for over 30 years before her well-earned retirement. She was passionate about the volunteer work she did for the Surrey woman’s shelter, spending many hours of her free time helping others and getting to know the hearts of the women she was helping. That’s who Audrey was; kind, loving, empathetic, and someone who wore her heart on her sleeve.
Audrey will always be the best of us. We will always carry her lessons with us. She will be deeply missed.
In leiu of flowers we ask that you please make a donation in Audrey’s name to the BC Cancer Foundation or the Surreys Women’s Shelter.
A ceremony for Audrey will be held this Friday, January 10th at the Hamilton Harris funeral home in Vancouver located at 5390 Fraser St. It will begin at 1PM and parking will be available. Coffee, tea, sandwiches and snacks will be served.
