November 13, 1951 - January 3, 2022
Arlene Rosario, 70, of Vancouver BC, passed away at home on January 3, 2022 after gracefully coping with cancer for five years.
Arlene was born on November 13, 1951 to Abraham and Antonia DeGuzman in Lingayen, Pangasinan in the Philippines. She came to Canada in 1977 and after her marriage to Bernardo (Don) Rosario in Prince Rupert, they moved to Vancouver. Arlene and Don went on to have two children, Joyce and Lyndon.
Shortly after settling, she began working as a long-term care aide at the Windermere, a position she maintained at the same facility for nearly 40 years. More than co-workers, the women she met there became as close as sisters and extended family.
Arlene was infinitely kind, loving and patient, qualities she brought not only to the care work she did for a living, but to the life she built around her — giving advice and affection, sharing food and recipes, growing plants and flowers (with a particular passion for flowering plants).
Arlene was predeceased by her parents Abraham and Antonia and beloved sister Angelita. She is survived by her husband Don, daughter Joyce, son Lyndon, granddaughter Logan; her siblings Virgilio, Cynthia, Emilie, John, Abraham (Joey), Rona and Dennis and their families; as well as relatives from the extended DeGuzman, Vila, Rosario and Flores clans.
