Just learned that Abe passed away back in 2019 and felt compelled to share a memory. Abe and I were young rookies at the same time at Coldwell Banker Commercial back in the late 1980’s.  Abe was not the typical, fast talking shmoozer- he was thoughtful, intelligent and sincere. He won over his many clients with hard work guided by strong ethics which I believe was shaped by his faith. He was always positive and a real pleasure to work with. I regularly speak with young people who want to join the commercial real estate business and refer to Abe as an example of someone who doesn’t at all fit a stereotype and was far better off for being his own person. His family must be incredibly proud to have had him in their lives. I know I am for even the few years that we worked together before I moved overseas. Just last spring, our Tapestry church home group made popiah at Abe and Janice’s place. Abe decided an appropriate side was prime rib so while we’re waiting for the beef to cook and poor Jennifer  is slaving away at the stove mixing up the veggies, a couple of us guys were in the hot tub with Abe. All the while he’s calling out, “Jen can you get us a beer? Jen, Ren wants a coke instead. Jen, come take a picture of us.  Jen take another one from the opposite side,  the angles better! “And we were just hanging out and spending time, being in the moment. 

What drew me to Abe was his love for authentic conversation. He never wanted to talk shop or politics but was more interested in the things that mattered the most, God, our spouses and families. He was always careful to consider the needs of others before him, there was one afternoon I visited him in VGH and he was concerned about us having to pay for parking! The day before he went into surgery we visited him at home. He had spoken to his accountant, asked the barber to come to the house for a haircut and was in so much pain that he had to lie down on the couch even though we were there for just a while. In the midst of his difficulty, he asked me if the HG facilitating and hosting would be all right with me travelling and him in the hospital. Till the very end he was planning and thinking of others. 

I lost a dear friend last 10/22. Death stings, while I know he’s having conversations with God now and isn’t in pain anymore, it still hurts. 

As one ages into the 40’s and  50’s  it’s never easier to make new friends. 5 year olds do it all the time and become bffs in minutes. 
Abraham was in our home group for only 3 years, this would have been his 4th year,  but he managed to touch our hearts and change our lives forever. He’s like the older brother I never had and he left us all too soon. But I’m thankful for the 3 years of deep friendship and I know I will see him again someday. 


Mr. Abraham Sayson is a devoted brother and an example  in the church.  He is from an amazing  Christ centered Sayson family. 
His loving  stories to his families and people  touches me.  I remember his signature smile and humor.  
 He is still living in everyone's heart, he has never passed away...
He is watching us with the Lord Jesus in the sky...
Together with  the Lord, they  comfort and guard his family high from the above.

It was the tail end of one of my first ECBC youth camps.  Abraham comes up to me and passes me a folded up note.  I thought it was a secret pal message.  But when I opened it up, it was a hand-written note from Abraham himself.  It was a long letter packed with affirming and encouraging words.  He saw much potential in my leadership capability and his prayer for me was that I would tap into all that potential he saw.  

Needless to say, I was extremely moved by his words.  

Those words sent me on a trajectory that would lead me into heavy involvement in church ministries throughout my teen years, eventual entry into seminary and full-time pastoral work, and to where I am present-day.   

I am ever so grateful.  And I will always remember.  

I am deeply saddened by the untimely loss of my cousin Abraham. He was an adventurous and bright soul, full of life, humour, and generosity. He worked hard, but loved to travel, and was very proud of his family. He made time to share a meal with me when I came to Vancouver for a short visit, even though he had a busy schedule.

Condolences to his wife, Janice, sons Tim and Darren, and to his mother, Naty Sayson, and the rest of the Sayson family. What a tragic loss.  

The first and only time i met Uncle Abraham and family was during a lauriat dinner hosted by the family of 5epo Naty Sayson on September 2017 when we decided to have our honeymoon in Canada. Memorable dinner for me and Joanna, having met so many family members, not to mention the sumptuous food and the endless talks on family and history. We later on found out that one of Uncle Abrahams prayer groupmates , Ian, is a cousin of Joanna and my highschool classmate in the Philippines who migrated to Canada. I also learned from a friend Achi Polly that they were neighbors in some residential village in Manila before the Sayson migrated. Such a small world indeed! Thank you Uncle Abraham for welcoming us during our stay in Vancouver! 

Thanks Abraham for these fond ECBC memories: organizing Milly, Helen, Lawrence, you and me to sing together as a quintet (HMSS) for a night of praise; playing volleyball with CF in the much anticipated  annual ECBC inter-fellowship volleyball tournament; and putting together those elaborate Christmas musical productions. It was also a privilege serving in Career & Joshua Fellowship with you. 

Your cheerful smile is missed and your absence saddens us.

I will always remember Abraham for his beautiful smile.  He had taught me many things.  I admire that he at a very young age is the first person who own a house of his own before marriage.  How he renovate that house himself.  He was so proud of his first home.  He is also the one to teach me how to be confident in making speeches without first apologizing.  Never show people you are not confident.  

He is always organize and do things well.  He will be truly missed.



Abraham, it was just a couple years ago when we had a "volleyball reunion" with a bunch of friends downtown for lunch.  

I've treasured our friendship over the past 27 years.  You were such a good teacher, sharing your wisdom in travelling, photography, volleyball, and life in general.  You treated everyone you knew so well and so generously, and made them feel very important to you.   You were truly inspiring to anyone fortunate enough to have known you. 

You have a wonderful and warm family with all your siblings, and I know how proud you were of your own family with Janice, Tim, and Darren.  

You will be dearly missed by many.

I had the pleasure of working with Abe for 25 years. Abe was always professional, sincere and admired by his colleagues.
He was a very generous person. We always appreciated the time and effort he spent creating CBRE’S memory photo books. I personally was fortunate to receive such a memorable book on my retirement after 31 years. Such great memories in those special albums.
It was a privilege knowing Abe.

Abe was one of my first colleagues when I joined CBRE 18 years ago. He had shown professionalism, wisdom, and positive attitude at work.  As a friend, Abe was always kind, generous, and funny.  Rest In Peace, Abe, you will be missed.  

So sorry to hear of your loss and the loss to the larger community of friends, co-workers, and those who shared his many passions.  Abe exemplified the words integrity and sincerity every day of his life and it was a joy to see to see him succeed over the years from the first days we worked together at CBRE. His views on life and business were always insightful and usually influenced with his wonderful sense of humour. A very gentle person with a very strong influence on all of us. Rest in peace Abe with the knowledge you have helped this world be a better place.

When I think of Abraham Sayson, A few words come to mind..,(this is in no particular order)

1. Director: a few of the ECBC Christmas Musicals under Sayson  Productions. I remember his professionalism and guidance. He was patient with us as we did run through during the rehearsals. 
 The outfit tops he would wear ranged from the blue and white striped long sleeve shirts, V neck sweaters or the black turtlenecks. I also recall him wearing jeans.

3. Confidence: He had a soft voice yet it was strong and confident. He carried himself confidently.

4. Counselor, Speaker, Leader:  for ECBC summer camp or during the year in YL, SYL, or CF. 

5. Thoughtful and Kind: When I bump into him at church, Not only will he ask how I’m doing  but will also ask about my other family members too.

6. Heart and Love for God. A Faithful Servant and Steward of what God has gifted him with.

7. Sporty: He would play in ECBC Volleyball tournaments for CF and Joshua. 

8. Smile: I remember his smile. He smiled a lot.

You will be missed Abraham. You have left your legacy in the hearts of so many. Thank you for being such a blessing in your time here on earth.

To my beloved brother Abe, you've gone before us - too soon - and now fully in the presence of the Lord and in the company of all the saints there. We miss you so much. Yet we know you're free from all pain and suffering.

You've asked us to care for Janice, Tim and Darren, we will love them like your own.
  
We enjoyed ballroom dancing and now you can dance to your heart's content.  When I go for a hike or watch a sunrise or sunset, I will remember you for we used to go on a lot of camping and hiking trips.  You love nature and you will have eternity to enjoy the BEST of the best.  I've learned a lot of photography from you so every time someone say "it's a nice photo," I will say "my brother taught me!"
