Gary Don Vickery

Gary Don Vickery, 71, of Alma, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022 at his home. He was born January 27, 1951 in Fort Smith to the late William and Emma (Roberson) Vickery. He was a retired Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force, and a retiree of the 188th Fighter Wing. He loved playing baseball, and grew up as a “boy of summer”. He graduated from State College of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree. He was a Mason, and member of Lodge #20 in Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Dana Vickery of the home; three sons, Alex Vickery and wife April of Blue Springs, MO, Bill Vickery and wife Summer of Greenwood, and Casey Vickery and wife Donna of Fort Smith; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Vickery of Blue Springs, MO; a brother, Jerry D. Vickery of Pearland, TX; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Alma United Methodist Church with interment to follow at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.

Pallbearers will be the United States Air Force Honor Guard.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
