Gary loved God, his family, and his grandkids. He was grateful for his church family at Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was often known for lending a helping hand to those in need. Gary could frequently be found fishing, hiking, traveling with his wife Anna, camping, and being at the lake with family and friends. He was a gifted man whose skills and abilities were extensive. "Grumpy," as he was known by family, enjoyed cheering on the Razorbacks, watching races, and attending activities of his children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful friend, a Godly man, and he will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Dickens; and a brother-in-law, Jimmy Hailes.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Anna Dickens of the home; two sons, Brent Michael Dickens and wife Kim of Van Buren, and Kyle Matthew Dickens and wife Kimberly of Mulberry; his mother, Lola Dickens of Van Buren; a brother, Ricky Dickens and wife Freda of Van Buren; two sisters-in-law; Joyce Haver and husband Chuck of Fort Smith, and Kim Hailes of Greenwood; and two grandchildren, Caroline and Cooper Dickens of Van Buren.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 8, 2024 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Van Buren with cremation to follow, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
