Elton O.“Red” Armstrong, 87, of Van Buren, AR, went to be with the Lord Saturday February 19, 2011. He was born December 12, 1923 in Fort Smith, AR to the late Frank and Adda Armstrong. He was a retired Welder from Burlington Industries and the owner of Armstrong Body and Paint Shop. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Van Buren, AR and the Hurst Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his sisters; Juanita Johnson and Betty Cooper; brother Burrell Armstrong, and several other sisters and brothers.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Van Buren, AR with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith, AR under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife Eula, one daughter Gayle Selby and husband Ronald of Van Buren, AR, one son Donald Armstrong and wife Lynda of Missouri City, TX, three nephews who grew up in the home Billy Wayne Redman of Springdale, AR, Clifford Eugene Redman of Forney, TX, and Bruce Allen Redman of Fayetteville, AR., one brother Holden Davis of Fort Smith, AR, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Bruce, Bill and Chip Redman, Donald and Stephen Armstrong, Mark Gerth, Ron Selby and Brent Redman.
The family will visit with friends Tuesday evening, February 22, 2011, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
