Christene “Chris” Foley, 83, of Van Buren, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022 at her home. She was born March 8, 1939 in Van Buren to the late Roy and Mae (Betterton) Spoon. She was retired from Woolco in Port Arthur, Texas. Chris had many interests, she worked the polls and was a member of the Democratic Party. She was active in her church and served on the Sunshine Luncheon Committee; visited the sick, and had appeared in mock fashion shows. She had a beautiful voice and was invited to perform in Branson. Chris was artistic and collected and made dolls; and made pajamas for the needy at Christmas. She was an avid coin collector; and a collector of sayings that she gathered from family and friends throughout the years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Billie Mae Garnard, Walta Jean Crocker, and Carol Estep.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bob Foley of the home; two daughters, Terri Sue Jankowski and husband Robert of Richmond, TX, and Carla D. Davis and husband Danny of Sugar Land, TX; a sister, Joy Lynn Rye and husband Rick of Allen, TX; four grandchildren, Olivia, Johnathan, and Christopher Jankowski, and Mallory Davis; nieces, Susan Rye and Tina Pinter, and several other nieces and nephews; and her walking buddy, Millie Mosley.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Edward Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Holden, Peter Vanlancker, and the Love Class at First Baptist Church.
The family will visit with friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
