Rebecca, better known as “Becky,” was born on October 9, 1927 in El Paso Texas. Later she would move to Los Angeles, California, where she married John Ledesma on August 1, 1944. John and Becky went on to have six children, three boys and three girls. She deeply loved her family.
The family later moved to El Monte in1955 where Becky began studying with Jehovah’s Witnesses. She loved what she was learning and would soon thereafter decide to dedicate her life to Jehovah through water baptism on March 15, 1957. Becky enjoyed the many things she learned from God’s word and shared it with her husband, who in turn also decided to get baptized. She loved Jehovah and would speak to people about him with every opportunity she could get. Together, Becky and John, helped many come to know and love Jehovah, including their children.
Becky had many interests. She loved animals, especially her newest addition Rusty the cat, whom she would spend her days talking to and looking after like her own baby. She loved plants, many times gardening late into the night with a small lamp by her side. She had a passion for cooking, spending much of her time preparing delicious dishes for her family. There was no end to the recipes she had saved, clipped, and stored. Becky’s door was always open for friends and family to visit, she loved company and could talk to just about anyone.
Friends and family will remember her for her sense of humor, always the jokester, her love of music, singing, dancing, and love for playing the piano.
One thing that will be greatly missed is Becky’s deep hope and trust in God’s promise for a Paradise Earth. She would often speak of the many things she hoped to enjoy in that beautiful new world, and although Becky will be greatly missed we look forward to the day we will all be together in Jehovah’s new world where Becky will once again be with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren and countless friends.
