He was born to Peter and Carmelita Pitassi on August 10, 1987, in Upland, CA. He grew up in Rancho Cucamonga attending Victoria Groves Elementary, Vineyard Jr. High, and Rancho Cucamonga High School (RCHS) graduating in 2005. The youngest of four siblings, he always held his own by instinctively knowing which buttons to push to make sure he was not taken advantage of. Peter was witty, creative, musical, had a great sense of humor, was playful, loving, sensitive, very smart, and could talk his way out of most trouble (or thought he could).
He loved playing roller hockey, football, basketball, and baseball in the neighborhood with his older brother Gabe and their friends. He played Little League Baseball, Pop Warner Football, city league basketball, and high school golf. He enjoyed all sports, always competed with passion, and loved to win. As a youngster he worked for the City of Rancho Cucamonga as a recreational assistant and youth basketball referee. He drove a tractor on the driving range at Red Hill Country Club picking up range balls, and he worked the phones at a company that pursued delinquent student loans. He had the gift of gab, but his real vocation was yet to come.
Peter was highly intelligent scoring in the top tier in state testing at every grade level. He qualified for and received a State funded scholarship for use at the college or university of his choice, however Peter had other ideas. Peter attended Chaffey Community College and Mt. San Antonio Community College for a short time each excelling in creative and screen writing. He also attended UCLA taking an extension class in video production and editing. While living in Los Angeles he even performed as a stand-up comic. His real love and talent, however, was writing (both dramatic and comedic). He dreamed of writing a screen play and a novel.
He had tremendous talent in video editing first using his skill and creativity at RCHS producing the weekly update for the entire campus. His pieces are still remembered, and some consider them legendary. His style was a bit sarcastic, so each week’s sketch had students and faculty either laughing or fuming.
His career included editing for companies which provided services for Walt Disney, Paramount, Universal and others in the entertainment industry. His employer for the last four years was Blueprint Test Prep. He edited and helped produce video for LSAT and MCAT candidates who were preparing for admission to Law School and Medical School.
Peter was a Roman Catholic and in his youth was an Altar Server at the Tridentine Latin Mass (although he was known to occasionally doze off during a long sermon). Like many of us, Peter drifted away from his faith but at the end of his life he returned with a renewed passion and love for God. Peter had a long battle with addiction but was in recovery and had reconciled with his family and his faith. His untimely and accidental passing is both tragic and devastating. He is and will always be missed by all who loved him so much.
He was predeceased by his Maternal Grandfather Joe Marquez, and his Paternal Grandparents Sam and Louise Pitassi.
He is survived by his parents Peter and Carmelita Pitassi, his brother and sister-in-law Michael and Deborah Pitassi, his sister and brother-in-law Chrisi and Ryan Knapp, and his brother and sister-in-law Gabriel and Michelle Pitassi. In addition, he is survived by his maternal grandmother Eloise Marquez, his uncles, and aunts Sam (Debbie) Pitassi, Rudy Marquez, Olivia (Larry) Sassone, Chuck Marquez, Ronnie (Susan) Marquez, and Joey (Rina) Marquez. His beloved nieces and nephews Holden Knapp, Madeline Knapp, Sadie Knapp, Nathaniel Pitassi, Lucy Pitassi, Isabelle Pitassi, Maria Pitassi, Josephine Pitassi, Dominic Pitassi, and numerous cousins.
A Rosary and Requiem Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday September 20, 2022, at San Secondo d’Asti Roman Catholic Church. The Rosary will begin at 10:00 am with the Mass following at 10:30 am.
San Secondo is located at 250 N. Turner Ave. Ontario, CA.
Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Rowland Heights. A gathering in Rancho Cucamonga will follow upon return from his graveside service.
