Peter was born in Detroit, Michigan, the child of Nicholas and Alexandria Papadakis. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1937. Stationed in Hawaii, he was a survivor of the Pearl Harbor Attack on December 7, 1941. He rose to rank of Chief Petty Officer and continued to serve in the Navy throughout World War II and the Korean War.
After retiring from military service, Peter worked as a Quality Assurance Representative for the Department of Defense. He was a long-time member of the Cucamonga United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir, held many leadership positions, and helped lead the church’s earthquake retrofit in the late 1990s.
He is survived by his daughter Jean, son David and four grandchildren, Lauren, Lisa, Christopher and Aaron.
A memorial service will be held at Cucamonga United Methodist Church in Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday, March 10, at 3:00 pm.
