It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dianna Marie Bocanegra, on April 10th, 2025 at the age of 40. Dianna was born on January 3rd, 1985 to Alex and Betty Bocanegra in Fontana, CA. She resided at the Bocanegra family home in Ontario, CA where she was raised.
Dianna spent a good portion of her early life on the softball field, where she built many lifelong friendships. She played softball for twelve years at Montclair Gold Girls Softball. She would later return in her adult life to coach 6u and 8u teams with her sisters. She also played for three years at Chaffey High School. After graduating from Chaffey in 2003, she went on to study at the University of La Verne where she obtained a degree in Liberal Arts, and a Master of Education.
Dianna began her career at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School where she spent 9 years as the school’s 5th grade teacher. Here, she met her long-time companion, Damian Reyes, who was also a teacher at the school. In 2022, Dianna accepted her recent position at Sacred Heart Parish School in Rancho Cucamonga, also teaching 5th grade. Her colleagues describe her as hardworking, compassionate and dedicated to her students. Her current and former students describe her as kind, patient, gentle and fair.
Outside of work, Dianna enjoyed watching Dodger and Laker games, trying new restaurants, going to the gym, weekend getaways, and spending time with loved ones.
Friends and family would often describe Dianna as shy, quiet and reserved, however those closest to her often saw the feisty, playful and not-so-quiet side of her. Above all, she will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her kindness, her thoughtfulness, her generosity, her attentiveness and her faith.
Dianna is survived by her parents, Alex and Betty; sisters, Delia and Michelle; her partner, Damian Reyes; cherished friend & godmother, Maricela Becerra; and nephew, Jordan Farias.
A mass to honor Dianna will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rancho Cucamonga on Monday, April 28th at 11 a.m., followed by a reception at Our Lady of Lourdes in Montclair at 1 p.m.
