Rebecca Dale Westfall, age 69, passed away in Irving, Texas, on January 20, 2022. Known as Becky to her friends, colleagues, and family, she was one of the first female graduates from Texas Tech Law School and served as a Federal Administrative Law Judge with the Social Security Administration for over 30 years. She retired from the bench in 2016.
Westfall was born in Dallas on June 17, 1952, the oldest daughter of FBI agent and later El Paso Mayor Thomas D. Westfall, and Eastwood (El Paso) High School French teacher Margie Westfall. Becky was predeceased by her parents and her younger sister Kathleen Westfall Shute, Professor of English at San Antonio College.
Becky Westfall is survived by her nephew, Dr. Eric Nathanael Shute, of Austin, Texas, and her niece, Kendra Marie Shute, of London, UK.
She was a generous and kind person who always thought of others before herself and who brought a smile to the faces of everyone she met. Aunt Becky was especially devoted to her grand-nephews Mateo, Donovan, and Marcelino. Services were held for Westfall at Colonial Funeral Home in Universal City, Texas, on January 29, and she requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local Meals On Wheels or Food Bank programs.
She passed away peacefully in the presence of her family and has gone to join her sister and her parents in Heaven.
