Raymond Milton Wofford, aged 91 years 6 months and 3 days, of San Antonio, Texas, died at his residence in Schertz, Texas on April 28, 2021. He was born to parents Mildred (nee Sinast) and Jacob Daniel (JD) Wofford on October 25, 1929 in Seguin, Texas; both deceased.
Ray attained an 8th grade public education and his GED Certificate. He enlisted in the Navy and served for 20 years. He attained the rank of RDC E7, Radarman and served aboard the ships: USS Hollister and USS Southerland, based out of San Diego, California. Ray was a Korean and Vietnam War veteran.
Ray married Annalee Elizabeth Werner, who survives him, in 1955 in San Francisco, California. He is also survived by his half-sister Jeannie Van Houton (née Wofford) and his four children; Linda Louise and husband Tom Bean, Nancy Ann, Susan Kaye and husband Doug Layton and David Wayne and wife Sandy (née Tennis) as well as 5 grand children; Christopher, Matthew, Drew, Alicia, and Caitlin as well as a host of great-grandchildren.
Raymond had many other occupations as he and Ann raised their family in San Antonio, Texas among them Manpower Agency instructor, landscape businessman, oil-field site coordinator, and warehouse manager for an electrical business. Ray could fix just about anything by conventional and sometimes unconventional means. He taught these skills to anyone who was willing to learn. He served the Lord with these skills both early and late in life; assisting with church plant building projects in Eva Beach, Hawaii and in Cibolo, Texas and a church campus expansion in Garden Ridge, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, May 17, 2021 at Word of Life Fellowship Church, Cibolo, Texas with interment and military honors at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas to follow at a later date. Donations in lieu of flowers will be accepted by Word of Life Fellowship Church.
