Today my brother John was put to rest  I was unable to attend but I followed in my heart as I knew the services were being said and could hear the "Ave Maria" as it was sung. I also in my mind could see the beautiful military burial he had. John always ♥️ and dreamed of being a soldier. I can remember him always playing with his toy soldiers on the living room rug in Chicago. There was a day we were to go to our Aunt Jane's for something and John was told to put on his dress up pants. He hated those pants and he called them his picky pants. They were made of wool. He said he'd run away from home if he had to wear them. My mom said ok and packed a little case for him and my dad gave him a dollar for the street car. John packed his toy soldiers in his case and left. We all got ready and in the car to go to Aunt Jane's. There was Johnny sitting on the corner playing with his toy soldiers. Dad stopped and told him the streetcar didn't come that way. Would he rather come with us, so Johnny gathered his soldiers and got in the car. Dad asked if he changed his mind about running away. John said "yes" and dad said "since you're not running away give me my dollar back."  We went on to Aunt Jane's and John didn't have to wear his picky pants. My brother is now at rest and proudly dressed in his dress uniform I am sure. God bless you my brother and may you rest in peace. ❤️ Janet

John was a good friend of our family, we have known John for almost 30 years.  I remembered, when my Parents and Siblings came from VietNam, they had to turn-in their X-Rays to the nearest Health Department; John was there to assist us in the transportation.  I have always been grateful to him.  John  was the kindest and thoughtful! 
Every time, I came to visit Mai-Lan, John greeted my Husband and I at the door with his dog “Erin”.  John always make us feel welcome to come to his house.  May You rest easy in grace and love.  You will be greatly missed, our sincere condolences and prayers to the Hanley family! Reggie and Loan Ramirez.

John my old friend you beat me to the promised land unfortunately! I sure am going to miss your dry sense of humor and all the discussion of politics we had in the social media arena! I have so many great memories from when were stationed in Frankfurt Germany, but know this for sure you were always  a kind and respectful senior NCO always wanting to help the lower enlisted soldiers in the unit! All of us were appreciative of your leadership! RIP my friend, my condolences and prayers to the Hanley family! SSG Ed Palomares Retired U.S. Army.

So sorry to hear of Johns passing.  I remember the fun we has when we were kids and exploring all of Wildwood Illinois.  I have not seen John since he enlisted in the army but have thought of him often.  He and his family are in my prayer’s
