He was the oldest of nine children born to Wilbur and Dolores Zoll. After graduating from Dundee Sr High School in Chicago, Illinois in 1960, George enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a Musician (clarinet). He was stationed at Scott AFB, Illinois until being discharged in 1964. He worked with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company until deciding to re-enter the Air Force as a Musician in 1965 and being assigned to Langley AFB, Virginia. George cross trained into the Personnel career field in 1966 and was assigned to Ching Chuan Kang (CCK) Air Base in Taiwan. In 1968, he was assigned to Kincheloe AFB, Michigan for a short time before returning to CCK Air Base the following year. Next, George was assigned to Andrews AFB, Maryland in 1972 and finally to Randolph AFB, Texas in 1973. He would remain at Randolph AFB until retiring as a Technical Sergeant in 1981. Later that year, George was hired into Civil Service at Randolph AFB as a Computer Systems Analyst. He remained in Civil Service until 1997 when he retired for a second time as a GS-12.
During his time at Randolph AFB, George primarily stayed active playing racquetball, golf, and bowling and volunteering with the Boy Scouts - Troop 338. He served as Assistant Scout Master and Scout Master from 1975 to 1979 earning an Order of the Arrow award.
After retirement, George spent much of his time visiting with friends and family. In his later years, he was fortunate to find out about the Air Force Musicians Association (AFMA). Joining the AFMA allowed George to reconnect with many of his old friends from his time in the Air Force Band.
George is survived by his wife Nana; his children Anita, Chun-Ping and wife Maria, Lee and wife Virginia, and Steven and wife Blanca; his grandchildren Heather, Alan, Michael, Jessica, Lucas, Joshua, Johnny, and Yezenia; his brother Glenn and his sisters Claire, Colette, and Clarice. He was preceded in death by his brothers Grant, Keith, Scott, and Gary.
