Our dad, George B Rivera, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019. He was born in San Antonio, Texas. He was survived by 1 half-brother, Emeterio Jr., and 3 half-sisters, Carmen, Frances, and Virginia. George was also survived by 5 children, George Rivera Jr., Azalia Brennan, Jaime Rivera, Maria Rivera-Garza, Joel Rivera, and 3 step-children Tony Lopez, Steve Lopez, and Mona Sandoval. He was also survived by numerous grand-children and great grand-children.
Our dad, George, had a humble, kind, gentle, and quiet spirit. He learned through life’s challenges and hardships to trust in God and always prayed that he would be forgiven for any past hurts. He never complained about anything. He had a positive outlook in life and worked hard. He was a patient man who loved family, friends, and those who crossed his path.
George, worked at Parker Roofing Co during his very young years, then decided to join the Navy on August 23, 1945. He later was employed by Kelly Air Force Base and retired on December 31, 1982 as a Sheet Metal Bonding Foreman. He received a Certificate of Service in recognition of Thirty years of Faithful Federal Service and decided to retire in Ingram, Texas.
Our dad, George, loved nature and the outdoors. When he moved to Ingram, he raised goats and roosters. He especially loved dogs. He loved carpentry, fishing, and traveling. He loved helping people, so toward the latter part of his life he volunteered at the local community center in Ingram, Texas.
A special thank you to the people at Sodalis Senior Living in Garden Ridge for their assistance of the loving care and support of my father. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude toward Sunset Memorial Oaks and Colonial Funeral Home for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.
