David Ewald Cordes was born on September 22, 1961 at Bergstrom A.F.B. in Austin, Texas. He was the first born child of Darlene and Ewald Cordes and big brother to all his siblings. A true Texan, he was always proud of his Lone Star heritage. As part of a military family, he spent his early years growing up on Air Force bases in Austin, Tucson, and Minot, North Dakota. The family moved to Texas in 1970 and settled in Kirby. He attended elementary and junior high schools there and then Judson High School in the late 1970's. An outdoorsman who loved the Texas heat, he worked most of his life in the construction industry and later for the City of Kirby. He was also a dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan, spending countless Sundays watching his favorite team on TV. In 2002 he was blessed with the birth of his son Zachary, his greatest joy in life.
David was preceded in death by his brother Dennis and his mother and father. He is survived by his son Zachary, sisters Diana(Eddie), Debra, Darla, and Stacy, brothers Douglas and Christopher(Kelly) and nephews Beau, Charles, Daniel, and Wyatt.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Stone Oak Methodist Hospital and staff at Colonial Funeral Home for their dedicated help. A private ceremony will be held by the family to celebrate David's life.
So long Dave until we meet again. We love you. We will always remember you, cherish those memories, and miss you for the rest of our lives.
Yeah though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for though art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
