Brenda Jackson, aged 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 18, 2024, at her home in Live Oak, Texas. Born into the loving family of Sterling and Joe Ree Jenkins, Brenda was a cherished member of her community and a devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
Brenda’s career was marked by dedicated service in the healthcare sector, where she worked at NE Baptist Hospital. Her journey at the hospital culminated in her role as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), where she provided compassionate care to countless patients, enriching their lives with her kindness, sense of humor, and professionalism.
A woman of deep faith, Brenda was an active member of the New Creation Christian Fellowship. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her participation in Bible studies and her service as an usher at her church prior to joining NCCF.
Brenda led a life full of passion for helping others, which was reflected in her involvement in various community service activities. She was a participant and medal recipient in the Senior Olympic Games, an avid gardener, and a volunteer at local nursing homes. Brenda also dedicated her time to delivering meals to those in need, researching and practicing holistic approaches to wellness, learning basic car maintenance, play the bongos, steel drums, harmonica, traveling, learning how to lay tile, and painting her house. Her love for reading enriched her knowledge and spiritual growth. She always said “why pay someone else to do something you can learn to do yourself and keep them pennies in your pocket.”
She is survived by her children, Monica Jenkins, Percy Jenkins, and Rollin Johnson Jr.; her grandchildren, Maegan Jenkins, Samantha Jenkins, Jessica Holloway, and Austin Johnson; and numerous great-grandchildren. Brenda also leaves behind her siblings Annie Holly (Blackie), George Ann Johnson (Pee Wee), Joe Ray Jenkins, Henry Jenkins, Sr, Charlotte Davis, and Vincent Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Jackson; her parents, Sterling and Joe Ree Jenkins; and her siblings, Irma Jean Stevenson, Sterling (Man) Jenkins, Jr, Helen (Dinah) Louise Craft, Lester Jenkins, Sr, Diane (Woman) Freeman, and Evon (Evonne) Jenkins.
