It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Andres (Andy) Garza Jr. he released his spirit to God on December 26, 2019. He died of complications from a lung disease at PAM Specialty Hospital in San Antonio Texas. Andy is reunited in Heaven, where his parents and all the loving relatives who passed before him are there to greet him.
Andy was born to the late Andres Garza and Virginia Martinez Garza in Harlingen Texas, on March 5, 1951. He was raised as one of four children. Andy was a graduate of Harlingen High School and Pan American University with a major in Bachelor of Science. While attending Webster University he received two master’s degrees for Clinical and Behavior Psychology and received a PHD from Stanford University in Clinical Psychology. He served and was a retired Officer from the U.S. Air Force. He received many medals and accommodations while serving in the Air Force. After retiring he moved and continued to live in Converse Texas.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Rebecca Zuniga and her husband Arnulfo, his nephew Joel Gold and his grandsons Jaxon and Jenson Garza.
Andy will be sadly missed by his family. He is survived by his three children sons Andres (Andy) (wife Irene) Garza III, John-Michael (wife Michelle) Garza, and daughter Kathleen (husband Donny) Oropeza; seven grandchildren, Andres Garza IV (Boy), Gabriella (Violet) Garza, Julian Garza, Lanee Garcia, Nicole Garcia, Eleanor Garcia, and Sebastian Oropeza; two sisters Gloria (husband Edward) Marshall and Diana (husband Gilbert) Perez and many nieces and nephews.
Andy was in the hospital from November 2, 2019 until his passing. We would like to thank all the staff members from SAMMC and PAM Specialty Hospital both in San Antonio Texas who took such loving care of Andy. We would also like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to all the family members and friends that would continually visit and call him, it meant the world to him.
Services are as follows: Visitation and Viewing Monday January 6, 2020 from 4:00-9:00 with a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, Universal City Texas. Gravesite Service and Interment Tuesday January 7, 2020 at 11:15 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio Texas Pavilion #2 with a Reception to follow at Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Schertz, 5008 Corridor Loop Rd. Schertz Texas 78148.
