I learned today (4/6) of Amalia’s passing. I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. Amalia was a true angel on earth. She touched every heart of every person she met. She may have been the youth choir director (and we were her first group) but she and the rest of the Davis clan were like family. I know Vicky was there to welcome Amalia with the biggest hug!!! God bless Amalia, Roger, Annie, Little Roger, Pat and the rest of the gang! 

Ms Amalia, you touched so many lives... I will always remember your beautiful singing at Mass. You will be missed dearly.  My condolences to Roger and all her family.

My Dearest Amalia,
I recall when we met at our ACTS  retreat at  Moye Center.  You, Esme and I, snuck out  traipsing through the night with a flashlight to the hum of Mission Impossible.  Our mission was to find the dreaded loud bell, which woke us up early in the morning and of course to explore.  We were like silly teenagers, instantly bonded and became friends.  I loved your Love of life, energy, spunk, and child-like spirit.  You were that shining star, who’s bright smile, laughter, and joy touched the lives of everyone you met.
I loved how amazingly talented you were.  If you wanted to do something, you did. You were not afraid to try different things.  I fondly remember, playing the guitar, trying to learn the piano, making jewelry and singing together in choir.  You shared your talents with all of us. You were so passionate about everything you did,  you pampered us with gifts you made, that truly came from your heart.
I was amazed at your love for children at church and being a teacher. I was encouraged that I too could become a teacher and switch careers later in life. Your wisdom, and love always lifted me up.
You were my sister in Christ, my friend, and like a mother to me. You encourage me, through tough times and both you and Cowboy (Roger) were so good to me and my son.  I can still recall your warm Easter dinners with your family and the fun egg hunts with cascarones. My mother and I still remember our stay with you in Corpus. I smiled and cried seeing the picture of you, my mother, and son on the beach with the Seagulls.
All of our sisters in Christ have such wonderful memories of our retreats, adventures, in and out of state, and even our sad attempt at our not so quiet, silent retreat.  You will forever be in our hearts and fondest memories. God has truly blessed us for having you in our lives.  You have made an impact on all of us, and your memory will live forever in our hearts.

Wow, to share memories of my tía Amalia, I would need so much time and paper!! My tía was not only my tía but I was fortunate enough to have her as my Godmother!! She was so carefree,fun loving, spiritual, lover of our Mexican culture and family! I could always talk to her for hours about our family tree or ask about how the family was or who were the people related to us and of course she knew!! Lol I am so blessed I got to spend many awesome fun times with her and tío when they came to visit my momma,Yole, as she would call her. My family was so appreciative of her time spent with mom (her younger sister )before she went home to Heaven. Tía Amalia was one person who “got me” when it came to our Mexican culture and heritage. I will never forget her putting my makeup on and I hers for our Día de los muertos outing and listening to her as she told me of why it was important in our lives. The time she took to go with us to see and learn about the missions here in San Antonio which made it unforgettable and our favorite end to day having our jumbo margaritas she tried to finish while we laughed! She showed me how much a woman could love her husband and constantly be proud to show it at all times! She was the glue who held our family together and there will never be another one like her! She definitely impacted my life and will be missed! I hold on to the fact that she is gambling with my mom, smiling with grandma, grandpa, tía Gloria and her two brothers Remy and Adolfo who passed away as a baby and is back with cousin Vicki. Love you tía I will see you again please watch over tío Roger for he truly misses you!  So do we

Tía had no shortage of amazing stories to tell - about fun she and Tío had in Spain and Morocco, adventures with her children abroad and right here in town, and her treasured grandchildren - but what always struck me most was how *fully* she lived each moment, including the moments when she was just meeting someone new at her dining room table. It didn’t matter who you were or where you came from – Tía welcomed you, had a question or two for you, was curious about you, heard you. I felt love and inspiration from her the very first time I met her, and I will never let that go.  Sending so much love to everyone whose lives Tía touched, and especially her beloved Roger, her children and grandchildren, and her siblings. Love you forever.

I just learned of her passing and the fates determined I must be in Florida this week.  I am with you all in love and spirit.  Praying and mourning the loss of our friend.

I am greatly saddened by our loss.  Amalia was a good friend and truly an angel of music ministry.  One of my finest (of many) memories was one day we (the family) were returning from singing for a first communion celibration.  We stopped at a schlotskys for lunch. I think there were 8 of us.  As we were were leaving, a lady stopped Amalie and I remarked what sweet and well behaved children we had.  To this Amalia and I replied “ yes, and we are very proud of every one of them.   Pa  Diehl. And yes I still have the pillow!

Amalia's beautiful way of being will forever be embedded in our hearts, and in our thoughts, and a source of inspiration to live every present moment joyfully.

To share a favorite memory would need a terabyte of room  or a truck load of ink to explain my  memories.  Everytime I visited or talked to my Tia Amelia it was a wonderful time , just caring , loving and full joy with her , my uncle and their family.  She will be greatly missed along with phone conversations we had from time to time. But I know she is up there with grandpa, grandma,tia yole , momma (tia Gloria ) and uncle Remy learning to use her wings while waiting on grandmas cooking. Love you Tia 

Ms. Amalia is the essence of kindness.  Her kindness help me grow my faith.  Her kindness opened the door for me to serve as a cantor.  Her kindness is always on display.  
I share this written message for the family:

You pass a closed door and you hear a message.  It wasn't clear for a complete understanding, so you’re left with misinterpreting what you heard.  
God placed people in our lives who study Devine words as written in the bible.  Faith opens your mind to allow Devine teaching to be placed on the surface of your heart, so when the heart breaks, the Devine teaching enter the heart and heals.
Faith drives your daily decision making process.  Faith brings comfort to know that the Devine teachings by holy men like Fr. Majeures, Fr. Stegman, Fr. Mahalic and a host of other priest and pastors have been placed on the heart  so when we awake to days knowing that a loved one has passed, the Devine teachings enter our hearts to heal the soul.  Our hearts are broken for the passing of Ms. Amalia Davis.  Roger!  Your heart will heal because that is Gods plan. Amen

Dear Amalia, my sister from another mother.  It has taken a while for me to write this as the memories keep rolling down my cheeks.  Do you remember when we met?  It was at an ACTs retreat when you encouraged me to sing in the choir.  You were my friend when I needed you and when I didn't need you.  Your generosity and caring made me love you as a sister. We shared so many good times, food and laughter.  We traveled together on pilgrimages.  You asked me to take care of Roger and I will do it as much as he will let me be a friend.  I will miss you my sister and will keep you in my prayers.  Love you.

My heart sank and I was so saddened when I got the news that our dear Amalia had left this earth.  But I was immediately at peace in the knowledge that she was Home with Our Almighty God in His Heavenly Kingdom.
I met Amalia almost 35 years ago when we first moved to RAFB.  She was the Youth Choir Director and I was a teacher for 10th graders; Amalia thought I was one of the kids.  I loved her immediately and ever since!  Amalia's smile would light up any room she would enter, and her love would warm the hearts of those she came in contact with.  Amalia was definitely filled with the Holy Spirit, and she shared God's love in everything she did and said.
I'm so glad I found this picture to share here, which was taken around July 2018.  Rob and I will miss Amalia and have been praying for the repose of her soul as well as for comfort and peace for Roger and the family.

I was so sad and heartbroken to hear of Ms. Amalia’s passing.  She was more than a friend to us, she was family.  She touched so many lives with love and kindness.  I close my eyes and see her bright eyes and her beautiful smile.  I met Ms. Amalia after Shannon joined choir and I, and my whole family, became blessed with her friendship.   She became a second mom to Shannon, always there, ready to love and counsel her.  We made so many memories together: choir, Christmas Pageant, birthdays, visits downtown and just sharing time together.  I remember all those weekends in which children met at her house to practice choir songs.  
I have so many words to describe Ms. Amalia: loving mother, grandmother, loving wife to Mr. Rogers, friend, teacher, sister.   We remember all the stories she used to tell us, how she learned to drive with her dad, how she met Mr. Rogers, and many others.  We offer our deepest condolences.  You are all in our prayers.  Ms. Amalia, we think of you with a smile in our hearts.  We miss you dearly.

Amalia was the person i had known the longest on this earth; she was my big sister. 
When we were kids mom used to take us to Charro Days parades in Brownsville Texas.  it was so exciting!
When my sons Favio and Ed were about 5 & 7 years old Amalia took  us to our first Battle  of Flowers parade in San Antonio.   When the Aggie Band marched in front of us she told Favio he would be the Aggie Band when he grew up. 
Amalia had a passion for kids, Easter parties and family gatherings.   
We are missing  her vitality and inspiration.

I have so many memories.  Amalia was my rock when we moved to Randolph.  We had so many functions together with our many families!  We started with Girl Scouts and graduated to the Church Folk Group.  Experimented with screen print t-shirts to earn money for some project that I've forgotten.  She was always there when anyone needed her.  Such a big heart!  Her family, Roger, Annie, Vickie and Roger supported whatever she did.  And I'm sure God will have a very special place in heaven for her.  Right beside Vickie.  She will never be forgotten.  My prayers are with you Roger, Annie and Roger and Grandchildren. 

“Molly” always put a smile in my heart and on my face! She loved hard with her beautiful heart and gentle spirit!  She showed you  the love of our Lord in everything she did. She loved “Roger-Rabbit “ with all  of her being and I know he’ll miss her.   Her smile could light up a room!  I’ll miss her but I’m thankful for the blessing of knowing her and the memories will  continue to make my heart smile. Rest In Peace  sweet Molly 

I met Amalia through the ACTS team at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church on Randolph AFB.  She was always so joyful! I will miss her contagious smile.  One night when we were on Team together, we realized she was friends with my aunt , who is my Godmother. Romalda Buentello was a classmate of Amalia’s at TWU from 1960 to 1964. The last time I saw Amalia was at the Catholic Women’s Conference. I had brought my aunt and they got to spend some time together talking. It was a very special moment to see these two friends who had not seen each other in many years getting to meet up. Amalia was so sweet. She said she was doing a ministry of making rosaries.  Amalia very generously and graciously gave a rosary to me and to my aunt. I pray with a rosary group on Saturday mornings and often use Amalia’s rosary. It always reminds me of Amalia. I will continue to pray with the rosary and pray for Amalia and her family whenever I use her rosary. My aunt Romalda and I offer our condolences to Amalia’s family. I pray that they take comfort in knowing that Amalia is now laughing and smiling in heaven ! 

First, I would like to extend our condolences to the family. My memories of Ms Amalia was just to see her every Sunday singing and the younger children with her as she directed them through each song . Just seeing them spreading God’s word through song was so spiritual. You can feel the special connection they had with Mrs Davis. I will really miss seeing her smile,  but I will keep those beautiful memories with me always. She’s now  singing in Heaven with our Lord God..Rest in Heaven Mrs Amalia Davis, I will miss you

I have been struggling since last week with what to write since I received the phone call of Mrs. Davis’ passing. So many emotions! So many beautiful memories! I was a part of the Youth Choir ‘Family’ Group that sang at Mass at the Taj Mahal on RAFB back in the 80’s. I was 14 when I joined. We were a close knit group and this is where I learned ‘Agape Love.’ Not just the definition, but in modeling this highest form of love and praise. Mrs. Davis ALWAYS made us feel like we mattered and made a difference! ‘Bloom Where You Are Planted’ was a song that we sang frequently, but this was her message to us….’Bloom Where You Are Planted’. I am in my 50’s now and the impact of her love and nurturing continues to reverberate through my being to this day. This was absolutely one of the best times in my life and she was a major contributor to that.  Mr. Davis, Annie, Roger and Pat, we will always remain ‘Family’ and know that as we say goodbye for now to Mrs. Davis, her love, kindness, strength, and Faith lives on through us . Love y’all always.

Tia Amalia, 

I remember spending a family vacation or two in San Antonio, and visiting with my aunt and uncle in their beautiful home. In the time I knew her she encouraged me to play the piano, and taught me some finger exercises that I still use to this day. From memories of rolling down the hill in her back yard to using the French toast recipe she taught us all those years ago. Tia will always have a place in my heart and in my life.

One of my favorite memories, was Victoria's birthday in the 6th grade, we painted with Miss Amalia and blew bubbles in the backyard...I may have ate a few but she had the best laugh so it was worth doing back then. 

Amalia was one in a million. She leaves wonderful memories for all who knew her. She and Roger will always have a special place in our hearts.

It actually took my breath away when I heard Amalia had passed. I then shared this news with my parents who were equally shocked and heartbroken. 
Living on RAFB my entire life I was blessed to have been friends with Annie, Roger Jr and Vicki (RIP) for many years; and as our families went to church each weekend it was a time to catch up with Amalia. I've got so many wonderful memories of her and they all start the same: We'd see each other somewhere and start making our way over. She'd reach out while showing her big beautiful smile that just radiated love and kindness and followed that up with a HUGE hug that oftentimes neither of us wanted to let go of! Always so warm and caring; it never felt like any years had gone by. That is what I will always remember most. 

Mr. Davis, Annie, Roger Jr and family - your wife and mother meant the world to so many people; may you feel the strength of our prayers. And may God grant you peace that passes all understanding. In loving memory, Patty Neville.  

Still crying my eyes out! Thank you to everyone leaving memories and sweet condolences.  Reading how this multi-faceted woman was so uniquely significant to so many different people still brings her grieving nephew comfort.  To me she will always be the mononymous “Tía,” the one who first put a pencil in my hand and took me to the museums that now hold my work in their permanent collections. To me she is the unconditional love embodied in one of her homemade tortillas and the “least of my brothers” doctrine she practiced by “never meeting a stranger.” My deepest condolences to her beloved husband, mi querido (and equally mononymous) Tío, their surviving kids (my cousins Annie and Roger II), grandkids, and her two surviving sisters Olga (my mother) and Grace.      My family was blessed to have had such a caring and loving friend for 44 years.   We came to church and admired the woman leading the song group.  We thought she was a nun that wore civilian clothes.  A month later, we were at a party and we discovered she was Roger’s wife.  
     We were both kindergarten teachers and cherished the little ones entrusted to our care.  Summers were spent enjoying Sea World with the grandchildren twice each week.  She was the brave soul who went on all the rides with the kids because scaredy-cat watched and waved to them outside the gate.
     She was my rehab buddy following my hip replacement.  I stayed at her home 3 days until mobile.  The compression stockings had us laughing and crying because they were so difficult to get on.  Two days later the hospital sent us the correct size we needed.
      We went to Hawaii and enjoyed a week sight seeing, touring, going to shows and eating .
     I’ll cherish all the wonderful memories made because you were a part of my life.  Easter Egg hunts ,brisket parties,graduations, birthdays and Shopping.
     She always introduced me to people as her sister even though our sisterhood was not by blood.  You will be in my heart forever.
                        

When my kids were younger, they were a part of the children’s choir at JBSA-Randolph. Ms Amalia has always been encouraging and uplifting making sure all the kids are reminded that God has given them the gift of music to share with others. She has also done the same for me. It is so easy to see the bright side of life with her around. Thank you so much for everything, Ms Amalia! You are loved and admired beyond words…and will never be forgotten.  Our love, prayers and sincerest condolences go to her loved ones during this difficult time. 

In 1965, Roger Davis, Harvey Wingfield, and I worked together in the Machine Room at Davis Monthan AFB Arizona.  Amalia would have me over for dinner.  I really appreciated that.  We would go out in the desert in the morning time near old Tucson and fix breakfast.   Annie, Little Roger, and Vicki were babies.  That was an enjoyable time.  She was a very loving person that took care of a young man called Perry.  Very good times back then.  We met back up again when I came to Randolph AFB and she met my wife Nora and my family.   Amalia and Roger  was my Daughter Joy Madrina and Padrino .  My son Will and Vickie were close friends.   Roger, Annie, Little Roger:   Will, Joy, Nora, and me are very sorry for your loss.  Amalia, rest in peace.  Love always, the Haddock and Whitesel family.  We love you.   

So many Memories! Such a Beautiful Soul! So in Love…We will celebrate you!From showing Mason how to make tortillas or coming to Illinois for Thanksgivings to take care of us when we were young, I think I was 6? Aunt Molly and Uncle Roger were our Tour guide of San Antonio and New Braunfels Taking us to their favorite beach place on Padre Island for Sun, sand, birds and a Sunset Cruise.  It Rained, of course being from the mid-west, where does that rain go when you are by the Ocean? I was nervous, Aunt Molly said Don’t worry, we’ve got you! A piano player, and So artistic! Her Amazing Grand-babies, I am sure got that gene! I have handmade bracelets and jackets and letters with envelopes and Masks she made for us, I will cherish! On to my favorite story she told us…there are so many, I’ll pick one. We had the Derecho few years back, she related this story: When we lived in Africa, in Casablanca Morocco, we were told there was going to be a Sirocco, which is a hot, sandy wind from the dessert. As it passes it burns leaves off the trees. Annie was about 3 months old, I was afraid for our health. Uncle had to go to work. We had no fans and no air condition. I didn’t know what to do. I had the bright idea of taking the sheets and draping them on the wooden louvers of the huge windows. Then I got pots of water and threw water by the cup full on the sheets. It worked!  The air came, we stayed cool and the dirt sand stayed in the sheets. When Uncle got home a few hours later because they were sent home early. He couldn’t believe that what I did worked. Looking back I can’t believe it either. All the leaves were black and scorched off the trees. Amazing!! That was in 1962! That is My Aunt Molly… caring, innovative, and willingness to do what it takes… Thank you for all your love and hugs and caring Aunt Molly! Will miss our FaceTime, Calls, and this is what we are doing today pictures and text! Love you much! 

I will always remember her for being so kind to two girls in Marion. Prayers for the family.

There is not nearly enough room on these pages to share the multiple memories we have of Amalia. Christ's love accompanied her wherever she went.  His radiance was obvious in Amalia's smile and the twinkle in her eyes that  lit any room she entered, and her grace and love will remain for generations. We are all blessed abundantly to have had her in our lives.

I will miss her kind, loving friendship and remember how her smile and gift of song testified to God’s presence and glory!  Even though Heavenly sainthood is our life’s goal, I can’t help feeling such heartache for all of us who love and miss her!  Love and prayers Amalia, my sweet sister-in-Christ, and heartfelt family condolences!

Dad would have been absolutely heartbroken to learn of Amalia’s passing. We never had the opportunity to tell him before he passed away yesterday. Our family is mourning for the losses of both Amalia and Dad, Jerry Parris. Y’all are certainly in our thoughts and prayers. We are utterly shocked by both of their passings. Amalia was the most kind woman I have ever met. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to know her and the rest of the family. She made a huge impact on my life as a teenager back in the early 80s when Vickie passed away. She lost her baby girl, yet she was comforting me for the loss of my friend, her daughter. I know our families will see each other again soon at these two funerals. Love always from your adopted family members in the Parris household.  

Thank you Amalia for being such a dear and loving friend to my Mom and our family through the years! Your friendship with my Mom meant the world to her and she always spoke so highly of you. May you rest in peace.

I was so sad to hear this news. Mrs. Davis was a wonderful person & I have lots of wonderful memories of her & the whole Davis family. 
I pray for peace & strength for Mr. Davis, Ann,  Roger & the rest of her family.  My heart smiles knowing that she is with Vicki again.

First memory: When Earl and I married, she gave us a plant and said as the plant grows, so will our love. She was kind and always made you feel  like she had known you for years, even if you just met her. A great addition to the Angel choir!

Ms Amalia, we love you and we will miss your beautiful smile and warm hugs.  I will miss our conversations about our Catholic faith, about marriage and life in general. I will miss the twinkle in your eyes when you spoke about Mr. Roger.

Amalia was a wonderful beautiful and talented soul who touched many lives including myself and my family.  I will miss her greatly.  My fave saying from her "Bloom where you are planted".  We sang it in church often as a teenage choir group. She embodied and lived and preached family love and togetherness. Amalia you left a beautiful root for all who knew you. We will remember you always.

There are do many memories including her and I went to Majestic and having time drive the boys home. You'll be missed dear friend.

Amalia was always ready to help everyone.  She made First Communion veils every year for any young lady making her First Communion.  My granddaughter Katrina will cherish hers forever.  Amalia has a special place in our family's hearts.  
Amalia welcomed my newborn  granddaughter LeeAnn to play the part of Baby Jesus in the Pasada in 2016. We love and miss you.

Amalia was JOY!!  She was an encourager and a dear friend.  She was a true light to the Lord.  May His comfort surround you Roger, Roger Jr.  and family, and Annie and family.  We are thinking of you and praying for you!!
