William Karl Bentz

Born in Newark to William and Julia Bentz, Bill grew up in Union and graduated from Oratory Preparatory School in Summit and attended St. Francis University in Loretto, P.A. During his career he worked for General Motors, Wigder Chevrolet, and finally Schaible Oil Company.

He was a long time and proud member of the Knights of Columbus as well as serving as an usher for the early mass at St. James the Apostle Church in Springfield for many years.

In his spare time Bill enjoyed fishing whether it was salt water or fresh and spent many hours happily casting reels with his late son-in-law Philip at Lake Hopatcong.

Bill is survived by his wife Barbara Bentz and children Marie Crosby, Stephen Bentz, Paul Bentz and Anita Bentz. He is also survived by grandchildren Ginger Viola, Rose Crosby, Amber Crosby, Fredrick Bentz, Jonah Bentz, and Jessica Bentz as well as great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, and sister Barbara Bentz Stevens.
