Thomas Michael McGarvey

Thomas Michael McGarvey, 37, of Rhome, Texas, formerly of Union, N.J., passed away on Oct. 20, 2013. Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 1, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union, N.J. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Holy Spirit Church, Union, on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 9:30 a.m., with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, N.J. Thomas was born in Elizabeth, N.J., and was raised in Union, N.J. He was a graduate of St. Peter's Preparatory School, Jersey City, N.J., where he was a member of the football and wrestling teams. Thomas graduated with a bachelor's degree from St. Peter's College, Jersey City. He worked for TD Ameritrade, Inc., in Fort Worth, Texas, for the past 13 years as a senior manager and broker-dealer agent. Thomas was a third degree member of Union Council 4504 Knights of Columbus and a devoted fan of the New York Jets. He was the cherished son of Thomas J. and Janet A. McGarvey (nee Kadian); beloved husband of Stephanie McGarvey; loving father of Josephine McGarvey; stepfather of Ava Walker, and dear brother of Kelly McGarvey, Debra McGarvey and her fiance, Kyle Kelly, and Laura McGarvey. Thomas is also survived by his uncle, Joseph Kadian, and his family, as well as many cousins and friends.
