Phyllis G. Zappulla (Nee Grasso), age 96, of Union, New Jersey passed away on Saturday January 18, surrounded by her loving family. She lived a long happy life to 96 years old. Phyllis was born May 11, 1923 in Newark then moved to Union where she resided for over 55 years.
Phyllis was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She also served as a faithful deacon, choir member and Sunday school teacher at Old First Presbyterian Church in Newark. When Phyllis was not serving at church she most loved being with her family, they were her greatest joy.
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Joseph Zappulla and her 13 siblings.
Surviving are her Daughters; Josephine Mellilo of Rahway and Sandy Cavallo and her husband Chip Cavallo of Clark. Her 4 beautiful grandchildren; Danielle Decker and her husband Ryan Decker, Jennifer Mellilo, Christopher Cavallo and Deena Cavallo. Her 2 sister in laws and many nieces and nephews and friends.
A visitation for Phyllis will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union. A funeral service will occur Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 10:00 AM, at the funeral home. Entombment to follow at Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery, Union.
