Oscar Obdulio Clara (Ula), 79, of Roselle Park, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019. Oscar was born to the late Victor Manuel Clara and Maria Antonia Ruiz Clara, in Escuintla, Guatemala. He was a dedicated husband, father, father-in-law, uncle, and friend. He had a passion for books and always helped those in need. He came to the United States in the late 1960’s, worked hard, and made his American Dream by working in the Jewelry Business in New York City. He lived in Brooklyn, New York for over 20 years, and finally settled in Roselle Park, New Jersey. In 2004, he retired and dedicated his life to helping raise his grandchildren. He loved his family, his home, and dreamed of one day returning to his beloved Escuintla.
Oscar was predeceased by his brother Aldo Clara. He is survived by his loving wife Rosa Maria Clara; 3 daughters and their spouses: Bonny & Jonathan Hotra, Marie & Alan Cantillo, Rosanelly & Michael Montalvo; grandchildren Alan Cantillo, Andres Cantillo, Juliana Montalvo, Mia Montalvo, Christian Hotra, Clara Rose Cantillo & Olivia Hotra; and his dog Jeter. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Oscar’s name to cancerresearch.org
