Born in Cyprus, Michael has always had a spirit of adventure. As a teenager during WWII, he enlisted in the British Royal Navy soon becoming an officer and spending time in north Africa. After the war, he moved to London and quickly established a manufacturing business in men’s haberdashery. Wanting to expand the business in New York, he came to the US, but was wonderfully detoured in that career path when he met the Statue of Liberty. Michael and his future wife Despina, were members of different Greek/Cypriot youth groups who were gathered to march in the Greek Independence parade in NY. He was attired in an evzone uniform and Despina, a college student at the time, was dressed as the Statue of Liberty. That meeting worked out well, as they were married for 71 years. Michael joined the training program at Bache & Company, and after a successful 45 year career as an investment advisor, retired from Wachovia as a Senior Vice President
Michael is survived by his wife Despina, children Elena and husband Louis, son Charles and wife Nina, grandchildren Catherine and husband Jeffrey, Gabrielle and husband Jacob, Michael, Samantha and great grandson Joseph
