Maureen Buckenberger (nee Smith) passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Buddy Buckenberger, loving mother to Jimmy, Eileen and her husband Jim, Laurie and her husband Scott, Mike and his wife Dawn, Kellie and her husband Joe. Maureen was the dear sister of seven and is survived by her sister Eileen Gleason. She was the adoring grandmother to Erin, Kellie, Chloe, Daniel, Mathew, Dylan, Samantha, Samuel and Maxwell.
Maureen was born in County Cavan, Ireland. She grew up in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Long Beach, NY before residing in Middlesex, NJ.
She was a deeply faithful Catholic and a lover of dancing and singing. A funeral wake will be at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union on Thursday, Dec 15th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, Dec 16th at 9:30am at Holy Spirit Church in Union, with an internment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, NY.
