Mary DeVito, of Berkeley Heights, formerly of Union, at the age of 96, passed away on April 7 surrounded by her loved ones. Mary dedicated her life to her family and nothing pleased her more than being surrounded by them. Her home was always filled with many who shared food, laughter, and love. Mary also had an unwavering faith in God and she found strength and guidance in her daily prayers. She was a lifelong member of the St. Anthony Auxiliary. The love and devotion shared by the family will be a source of comfort and strength to those she leaves behind.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Morris; her son, Louis; her brother Nicky Giordano, William Giordano, and Butch Giordano, and her sister, Carmella Galan and her son-in-law Frank Mandato.
She is survived by her seven loving and devoted sons and daughters, Morris and his wife Dot, Anthony and his wife Teresa, William and his wife Diane, Toni Mandato, Mary Jean Pedicini and her husband Rick, Jo Ann DeVito, and Grace Caruso and her husband Richard. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She also leaves behind her sister Frances Giordano, and two brothers, Louis Giordano and Jerry (Chick) Giordano.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McCracken Funeral Home, Union. Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at St. Joseph Parish, Maplewood, on Thursday, April 11 at 10AM with interment to follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union.
Memorial contributions may be made in her loving memory to St. Jude Children’s Hosptial.
