Joseph (Joe) J. Tamburro died peacefully at home on June 7, 2021 after a long battle with dementia. He was raised in the Ironbound section of Newark and later moved to Irvington where he raised his family. He was a US Veteran and he worked for the Star Ledger and The Daily Record for many years.
Joe was a patient man who never complained. Two of his favorite things were eating and making people laugh. He often put other’s needs before his own. Joe had a smile and a cheerful word for everyone he came in contact with up to his final moments.
He loved his family dearly. He was lovingly referred to as “Papa Giuseppe” by his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Nina of 55 years, daughters Marina Heller and Gerarda Conte, sons-in-law Jay Heller and Frank Conte, grandchildren Frankie, Julia, Giovanna, Michael and Gabriella, his sister Joan Serratelli, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Anna and Joe and his brother William.
A funeral service will take place on June 15th at St. Michael’s church in Union at 10:15 AM.
