John J. Mc Evoy

Born and raised in Newark, John resided in Union for the past 58 years.

John served in the US Army from 1963-1965. He earned his MBA from Rutgers University and later worked for the Department of Defense at West Point and then Fort Monmouth for over 25 years.

John was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4504 in Union, past Faithful Navigator and Color Corp Commander of the 4th Degree. He was a member of the American Legion Post 35 in Union, the Elks Lodge in Springfield, the Irish American Society in Union and Father Monella Center of Italian Culture in South Orange. He was the founding coach of the Tidal Wave Swim Team at the Union Boys and Girls Club and enjoyed coaching from 1974-1988.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Kathleen (Nee Boyle), and their two children, John, and Christine (Thomas).

A visitation will be held Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, New Jersey 07083.

A funeral mass will occur Friday, October 18, 2024, at 10:15 AM at St Michael Church, 1212 Kelly St, Union, New Jersey 07083.
