Joan Helene Oleksik, 71, passed away on September 3, 2017. She is survived by her husband of 47 years; Richard Oleksik, her in-laws; Ellen and Tom Boland, Jean Labaska, her cousins; John Higgins, Doug Higgins, Constance Fischer, five nieces and nephews and her 12 godchildren. Joan was an active volunteer for The Rape Crisis Center of NJ, the Jersey Battered Women’s Service and a past president of the Summit Business and Professional Women’s Club. Joan was a retired legal secretary who enjoyed gardening and traveling.
A visitation will be held for Joan on Thursday, September 7 at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union from 3-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Spirit Church, 971 Suburban Road, Union on Friday, September 8 at 10:30am. Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union. The family request that in lieu of flowers contributions made in Joan’s name to Sloan Kettering Cancer Center at www.mskcc.org.
