The family will receive friends on Wednsday Oct. 17 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at McCracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Ave Union NJ. Funeral mass will be offered at Our Lady of Lourdes, Mountainside, on Thursday Oct. 18 at 10 AM with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
Born in Newark, Fred resided in Union for 52 years. Fred graduated form David Brearley High School in 1978. He was employed for many years by city Federal savings Bank. Fred was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Union.
Fred was always a gentleman, kind and compassionate. He has many health issues, but his strength and dtermination were an inspiration to all who knew him.
Fred was predeceased by his grandparents, and his father, Frederick L. Bittner. He is survived by his mother Frances M. Bittner, his brother, Kenneth, of Mountainside and his siter Beverly of London, England and nine nieces and nephews.
