Born January 5, 1932 to the late Fred Sr., and Lena Hafner in Newark, NJ.
Fred’s parents immigrated from Germany and became hard working American citizens. They owned a paint and wallpaper store on the Boulevard in Kenilworth that was a staple of the community for many years, and Fred was known for his keen eye for design. Fred, known to all as Uncle Fred, was a voracious reader, especially of history, and could hold his own intellectually on virtually any topic. Fred was an aficionado of opera, and loved all types of art. He was a faithful and loyal friend. Fred was a long time member of Kenilworth Gospel Chapel and loved Jesus as his savior. Fred lived a simple life and was a generous, loving, and caring man who loved God and loved you.
