Michael was born in Jersey City, NJ on November 25, 1965 to Vivian and Emil Dassatti. The watchful older brother to Michele and Marc Dassatti, Michael grew up in “The Projects” prior to moving downtown to 10th Street. In his childhood, Michael enjoyed playing sports, particularly football which he exceled in, and he enjoyed riding dirt bikes, which served as a precursor to his eventual love of motorcycles.
In his late teens, Michael met his future wife, Lisa [Kakowski]. They fell in love and shortly thereafter welcomed their first child, Michael Brian Dassatti II into the world. Michael was followed by his sisters, Brittany Michele Dassatti, Amanda Ryan Dassatti, and Samantha Louise Dassatti. As a family, they loved sitting around the table to telling stories and lovingly “rag” on each other, as well as taking family vacations in Florida. Michael valued being a father more than anything, and of all his successes, the love he showed for his children was by far the greatest.
Of his aforementioned successes, Michael was the founder, Owner, and President of Brockwell & Carrington Contractors, Inc., a general construction company specializing in public work, particularly school construction. Although Brockwell’s impact is not relegated to only North Bergen, one cannot drive through Michael’s hometown without appreciating the effects of Michael’s legacy on educational institutions throughout the city.
Aside from his professional success, which is undeniable, Michael, known as “Prez” by his brothers, was a Founding Father and the only President of the American Brotherhood Motorcycle Club from its foundation through his passing.
In addition to his wife Lisa, and his children Michael II, Brittany, Amanda, and Samantha, Michael is survived by his mother Vivian, his sister Michele, his nephew Marc and his niece Mia. He was preceded in his passing by his father Emil and his brother Marc. Michael was a tremendous son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. One of Michael’s greatest attributes was his ability to make every person he interacted with feel important and special. He will be missed dearly by all of those whom had the pleasure of having him in their lives.
Services in remembrance of him will be held at 2:00 pm through 8:00 pm, Monday, June 28th at Leber Funeral Home in Union City, NJ 07087. His family will be present to welcome loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Michael
