Dorothy Ann Carney

Dorothy Ann 'Dotsy' Carney of West New York, NJ formally of Hells Kitchen NYC passed over into the afterlife from cancer on Saturday August 6, 2022 with her daughter beside her and the love and close support of family and friends who brightened her days throughout her illness.

Born to the late and beloved Margaret Mingy in NYC, NY on February 11, 1942. Dotsy went to Sacred Heart School, was a member of the girl group 'The Dizzettes' and attended Julia Richmond high school in NYC. As the sole provider for her daughter Valerie, Dotsy worked most of her life for Estee Lauder in the day hours and as an Usherette in the Legitimate Theaters of Broadway in the evenings. She was able to travel the world in retirement, was prolific with the Sunday NY Times crossword puzzle, and enjoyed her NY METS baseball, PBS Masterpiece Theater and a Miller Lite.

Dotsy is survived by Valerie Carney-Crandall and James Crandall her daughter and son-in-law, her precious grandson Michael Norton, cousin Tom and Ann Connors. She leaves behind many dear lifelong friends whom she shared all of life's milestones and other dear friends she will be joining in the afterlife.

The visitation for Dotsy will be on Tuesday 8/9/22 from 5 to 8pm. The funeral will be on Wednesday 8/10/22 at 10am from the Leber Funeral Home then to St. Joseph of the Palisades Church in West New York where at 11am a funeral mass will be offered. The entombment will follow at Flower Hill Mausoleum.
