Born in Weehawken, NJ on December 15, 1949, to the late John and Christine Drieling. Diana lived her entire life in Union City, along with her husband Walter. She was a dedicated teacher in both Jersey City and Union City for approximately 42 years.
Survivors include her husband, her devoted daughter Christine Leonore Mockert, and her sister in law Gertrude Mockert. Diana had a lifelong love of travel, and went to Germany many times as a child and adult to spend time with her relatives and friends. She enjoyed vacationing every August in Cape May, which was her “happy place.” She loved margaritas on the rocks, could never pass up a good bargain, especially when it came to jewelry, and spending time with her daughter. She was an avid reader and lifelong Beatles fan with a special crush on Paul McCartney.
Diana’s Life Celebration will include visitations on Saturday, June 18 from 4-8pm at the Leber Funeral Home, 2000 Kennedy Blvd, Union City, NJ. A funeral prayer service will be offered on Monday, June 20, beginning at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Friends and family may begin arriving at 10:00 AM before services. Diana will be laid to rest at George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ.
