He was born in Bridgeport, CT on June 27, 1941 to Carmen and Gilda (Festa) Civitello.
Rich was an auto mechanic for many years and was meticulous about every repair. A point came in his life where he wanted to teach this trade to others coming up in the field of automotive technician. As a result, he worked as an Automotive Department Head/Instructor at Ella T. Grasso Southeastern Technical High School in Groton and previously at Windham Tech in Willimantic and Henry Abbott Tech in Danbury where he was an Automotive Instructor. When not at work he enjoyed hunting, fishing and skeet shooting. He was a member of the Quaker Hill Rod & Gun Club where he also served as past President and Vice President. He was the guy you called when repairs needed to be resolved at the club. He was also a mentor and friend to all his teammates and will truly be missed. He was also a member of the Ledyard Sportsman's Club.
Rich was a kind, strong, active man who loved being outdoors and is loved by everyone in his life. He is the best DAD and friend ever! An amazing Poppy and an admired Brother and Uncle.
He is survived by his sweetheart of 19 years, Patti Ann, daughters; Donna Toomey and husband James (#1 son), Debra Cristillo and husband Joe, Christen Anderson, his brother, James Civitello, his sister Carol Vece, four grandchildren; Shawn, Christina (husband Andrew), Rebecca, Ava and four great-grandchildren; Anthony, Nicholas, Natalie and Nathaniel; as well as a very special young lady Megan.
