On Friday, September 27th the world was swept from under our feet with the unexpected loss of Benjamin Tyler Sostre, 36 of Uncasville CT. This loss is far greater than any words can begin to describe. Benjamin was not just a person; he was an experience. He was an adrenaline - seeking, spontaneous light that would drop anything for an adventure. Benjamin’s charisma was so pronounced that he could change the mood of an entire room just by walking in. He had that unmistakable spark, that energy that made every moment feel brighter, every day feel better. That was his effect on everyone he encountered, from friends, family, and neighbors, Dunkin workers and the scratch off cashier, to police officers, medical workers and everyone in between. No one was immune to his charm and magnetism. Ben took pride in providing for his family. He fiercely loved and respected Justine and the life they had created. He was a protective father to his little buddy Cohen and baby girl Paige. He was a passionate car enthusiast to the core who could be found working in his garage for friends, family or just for the love of it. He was a force of nature that embraced challenges headfirst. His vibrant spirit will live on in the endless stories able to be shared about him.
He is survived by the love of his life Justine Allard and two children Cohen age 6 & Paige 10 months, his loving parents Jenny & Neftali Sostre of Oakdale, brother Dan Sostre of Oakdale, brother & sister-in-law Jordan & Noelle Sostre of Gales Ferry, future In-laws John and Meagan O’Neill of Waterford, and Matthew & Barbara Allard of Old Lyme. Ben also leaves behind numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and an entire village of now heartbroken friends and family. There are so many who embraced Ben as one of their own.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be to support his family on the GoFundMe Fundraiser by searching for “Justine Allard”. Condolences may be sent to Justine directly at 601 Old Colchester Road, Uncasville CT 06382.
Our hearts are full of gratitude and overwhelmed by the generosity already pouring into this fund. This stands as testament to his legacy and the many lives he has touched. It has been said that he would, and has, given the shirt off his back if someone needed it. He cared for his friends & family deeply and showed this through his immense generosity, we believe this is the net he has cast.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 5th from 11 am to 2 pm at the Montville Home of Church & Allen 53 Norwich-New London Tpk. Montville, CT. Private family gathering to immediately follow.
