William Newton Hill III, “Buddy”, age 85, passed away on May 17th, 2021. He was born in Tyler, TX June 11th, 1935 and graduated from Tyler High School in 1953. He grew up with his parents, sister and brother on Travis Street and married the love of his life, Glenda Barron Hill, who lived 2 streets over on Houston. They were married for 62 years until her death in 2017. After High School Buddy was in the Naval Reserves and worked as an electrician at Dement Electric before going to work at Tyler Pipe. He worked there for 36 years before retiring. Buddy was a very active member of St. Paul Methodist Church where his parents were founding members. He later became a member of Green Acres Baptist Church where he was baptized along with his daughter, Kellie Hill Ashley. He was a member of Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief as well as Volunteer Christian Builders. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and won numerous fishing tournaments. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved having family over for family birthday lunches and holiday celebrations.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Newton Hill, Jr and Mayme Hill (Elliott), his wife, Glenda Barron Hill, his brother, George “Tutti” Hill and his sister, Jean Hill Williams.
He is survived by his children, Angela Hill, daughter, Ronny and Cyndi Hill, son and daughter-in-law, Kellie Hill Ashley and Scott Ashley, daughter and son-in-law, seven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held at Green Acres Baptist Church Chapel on Friday May 28, 2021 at 1:00 pm.
