Thelma became a nurse in 1951, and worked at the Henderson Memorial Hospital, then later worked for the Lindale Nursing Home. She loved to fish, but in her younger years she enjoyed riding horses. Thelma married the love of her life, Carl Eugene Brooks, on March 26, 1952. She was also a member of Mt. Sylvan Baptist Church and the Mt. Sylvan Lodge Eastern Star.
Thelma is survived by her children Harold and wife Donna G. Brooks, Steve Carlton and Donna D. Brooks; grandchildren Maegan (John) Minter, Amber Gene Brooks, Trinity Brooks, Cally Brooks and Lori (Cory) Smith; great grandchildren Chaney, Chezley, Flyn, Sadie, Lyla, Hazel, Cove and Carter; and many nieces and nephews.
Thelma is preceded in death by her loving husband Carl Eugene Brooks; parents Edgar Funk and Clara Alice Garrett; sister Wilma Funk Brooks; and brothers Russel, Harold and Ralph Funk.
A time of visitation for Thelma will be held Friday, February 7, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Tyler Memorial Funeral Home followed by a celebration of Thelma's life at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will occur on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tyler Memorial Cemetery.
