Services for Terry Blake Phillips, 51, of Whitehouse are scheduled for 1:30 P.M., Friday, April 28, 2010 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Bennie Portwood officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Mineola.
Mr. Phillips passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 in Tyler.
Terry was born on May 18, 1958 to Aris Marie and Joe Dodson Phillips in Dallas. He attended Gainesville High School and graduated from North Texas State University in 1981. He pole-vaulted on the track team there. After moving to Tyler, he graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with a B.B.A. degree.
He married Carolyn Waggoner June 1, 1985. He worked as an accountant at Promoter’s Supply and Sword Company of Tyler for 16 years. He served as a Deacon at Bethel Bible Church and taught children and youth Sunday school at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
Terry loved his Lord, family and church. He enjoyed running, golf, playing the guitar and studying the Bible. His favourite activity was time spent with his son, Joseph. Terry will be remembered for this devotion to God and family, and for his sweet and gentle spirit. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Phillips of Whitehouse; son Joseph David Phillips of Whitehouse; sisters, Connie Holt and husband Dan of Gainesville and Gina Cason and husband Brett of Sanger; 10 nieces and nephews and 2 great nieces.
Pallbearers are Andrew Carter, Chris Coon, Larry Ellis, Jon Foughty, Ryan Sword and Robert Swinney. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Sword and Sword Company Employees.
