At her home on September 8, 2012, after a lengthy illness, our precious Ruby Darrell joined THE LORD.
She was the daughter of the late Jasper Newton and Eva (Smith) Cox of New Summerfield, TX, formerly of Ohio County, Kentucky. She was born May 9, 1926 in Mexia, Limestone County, Texas, where she graduated from high school, and later attended Tyler Junior College.
Since 1952, Ruby Darrell called Tyler her home. Her 35-year banking career from which she retired included working for Tyler Bank and Trust, Republic Bank, and later NCNB. In later years, she also worked in the Antique Mall of Tyler.
Ruby Darrell will be remembered for her complete loyalty and passion in taking care of her parents and her sister in their elder years, for helping others, for her friendliness to everyone she met, and for her faith in THE LORD.
Ruby Darrell Appl was a member of Friendly Baptist Church, Tyler, and a 34-year member of Troup Chapter No. 421, Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Gilbert Cox and a sister, Eula Mae Ganson.
Survivors include: Her son, Rick Appl and her Daughter-in-law, Luanne Appl, and her beloved sister, Mrs. Retha Still, all of Tyler; three grandchildren, Christina, Matthew and Stephanie; four great-grandchildren, and nieces, Beverly Baker, Janice Brown, and Reggie Cox.
The family expresses deep gratitude to her caregivers and to the staff of Hospice of East Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Friendly Baptist Church, or Hospice of East Texas.
