Ronal Edward Owen, age 83, of Tyler, formerly of Shreveport, passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the Reunion Plaza Assisted Living Center in Tyler. He was born on November 2, 1927 in Manifest, Louisiana to James Travis and Auzzie Eddins Owen, they preceded him in death. Ronal married Clara Anglin on December 15, 1951 in Bakersfield, California. Together they spent the next nearly 60 years together making memories and raising a family; she also preceded him in death. Mr. Owen worked his life as a carpenter and a pastor. His spare time was spent gardening, writing, and wood working but his greatest memories the times he shared with his family. He was a member of the Tyler Gospel Chapel. Ronal will be remembered for his thoughtfulness, his caring personality, and his love for his family.
Ronal is survived by one son, Ronnie Duane Owen, and wife Sherry Watson, of Mesquite; two daughters, Sharon DeMeritte, and husband Jim, of Florida, and Donida Toro, and husband Ray, of Tyler; brothers, Earl Owen and Oadis W. Owen, and wife Ruby; sister, Faye Swartout and husband Jay; sister-in-law, Mary Owen; grandchildren, Jennifer Powers and husband Andrew, Michelle Whetstone and husband Allen, Byron Chase Blondin and wife Kristen, Jason Smith and wife Karen, Destiny Toro, Heather Toro, Kristin Owen, and Gina Laprova; great-grandchildren, Lucy Powers, Hannah Powers, Wyatt Blondin, Aiden Smith, Gage Smith, and Branson A..
He was also preceded in death by seven brothers, two sisters, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Services for Mr. Ronal E. Owen will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor John Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at the Tyler Memorial Cemetery and Mausoleum with David Angelo, Eldon Dyer, Jimmy Ellis, Reggie Hudson, Ken Jacobe, and Derek Watson serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 -8 P.M. Friday evening at the funeral home.
