Richard D. Warfield, age 91, of Tyler, passed away in the mid-afternoon hours of Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Briarcliff Nursing Home in Tyler. He was born on September 29, 1920 in Fredericksburg, Virginia to John Richard and Florence Disney Warfield, they preceded him in death. After high school, Mr. Warfield joined the United States Army and proudly served his country and learned the skills that carried him through life. He became a skilled machinist, small business entrepreneur and accountant. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Mary Smythe, and together they spent 65 years raising a family and living a lifetime of memories until her passing on March 19, 2009. Richard was a 50 year Mason and member of the Episcopal faith.
Richard is survived by one son, Richard Warfield, Jr., and wife Kikuko, of Arlington; one daughter, Elizabeth Louise Thweatt of Sun City, CA; and by 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler.
