Obituary for Norma Jean Hunt
Graveside services for Norma Jean Gunter Hunt, age 92, of Ben Wheeler are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 1, 2023 in the Tyler Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Charles Kimble officiating under the direction of Tyler Memorial Funeral Home Directors.
Jean passed away Friday, April 28, 2023 at home in Ben Wheeler, under the loving care of family and Hospice of East Texas. She was born on March 20, 1931, in Jacksonville, Texas to Horace and Myrtle (Warren) Gunter. After moving to Tyler with her parents in 1935, she attended Tyler schools and graduated from Tyler High School in 1948. For most of her adult life, Jean was a tax – title clerk for multiple car dealerships in Tyler and Longview. Jean enjoyed shooting pool and bowling and was a VFW 7523 Auxiliary Life member. She was a former member of Order of the Eastern Star Pine Tree Chapter 1090.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister Evelyn Lucille Gunter.
Jean is survived by daughters Linda with husband Tim Shafer of Longview, Sherry with husband Karl Little of Ben Wheeler and son Robby with wife Kitty of Tyler, MeMaw leaves behind six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tim Birdwell, Amanda Birdwell, Justin Douthit, Jacob Birdwell, Jerry Holland and Blair Taylor. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Monday May 1, 2023 before the service at the Tyler Memorial Funeral Home.
