Lyla Jane Bennett, born on March 24, 1937, in Elgin, North Dakota, passed away surrounded by family on October 23, 2024. Our beautiful mother, a devoted Christian and a pillar of kindness, was known for her unwavering love for her family and her fiery spirit. In 1974 she married the love of her life, Richard, and they spent 29 beautiful years traveling, laughing, and living a beautiful love story. Through a miracle of God, following complications from heart surgery in 2001, her family was blessed to be at her side for 23 additional years of her vibrant life.
Her creativity and love for crafting brought her immense joy and her hand-crafted art brought smiles to many faces. Lyla was also a woman who shared her joy and laughter to those around her, often delighting in playful jokes and mischief. Her warmth and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Lyla is survived by her loving daughters, Debbie and Donna, son-in-law Gary, as well as her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard, son, Corey, and 3 siblings.
