Lloyd Eugene Batie, age 76, of Ben Wheeler, passed away in the late morning hours of Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. He was born in Dallas County, Texas on February 19, 1935 to Buster and Ruby Erline Cole Batie, they preceded him in death. Lloyd married the love of his life, Helen Pearl Liebel, on December 2, 1955. Together they spent the next 55 years raising a family and living a lifetime of memories not soon to be forgotten. Lloyd was a hard working man who would do whatever it took to take care of his family. His greatest times were spent with his family and friends telling stories.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Helen, of Ben Wheeler; children, Ronald Batie, and wife Tracy, of Ben Wheeler, David Batie, and wife Pam, of Arp, Sherrie Dell Brightwell, and husband Melvin, of Henderson, and Patrick Batie, and wife Mary, of Overton; sisters, Virginia Ross of Forney and Helen Cullins, and husband Bill, of Dallas; brothers, Donald Batie, and wife June, of Ben Wheeler, and Virgil Batie of Dallas; and by thirteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Mitchell Batie.
Services for Lloyd Batie will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at the Tyler Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Shackelford officiating. Burial will follow at the Tyler Memorial Cemetery with Ronald Batie, Jr., Erik Batie, Cecil White, Adam Batie, Cody Welch, and Stephen Andrew serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M., Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
