Judith Ray Warren was born in 1932 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She died October 29, 2021. Judy enjoyed collecting rocks and minerals, camping, spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, taking road trips, genealogy, and thrift shopping.
Judy was an accomplished woman, having earned multiple degrees: an Associate of Arts degree from Gulf Park College for Women, a Bachelor’s in Education from The University of Oklahoma, a Master’s in Education from Texas Eastern University, and a Master’s in Psychology from The University of Texas at Tyler. Judy was instrumental in the founding and development of the Episcopal school system in Tyler, Texas, beginning with St. Andrews Elementary School through to the creation of All Saints. She introduced the Mae Carden reading and writing method to the region. She was a principal for several years, then a teacher at All Saints and Westwood Middle School in Palestine, TX, specializing in literacy and remedial reading. Judy was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and The Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her three brothers, John Youngmeyer, Jim Youngmeyer, and David Youngmeyer, five children, Anne-Alex Packard, Liz Quinn, Rush Warren, Paul Warren, and Tom Warren, ten grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son Will Warren and her parents Ray and Mary Youngmeyer.
A graveside service will be held on November 5th at 1 PM at Rose Hill Cemetery.
