A Mass of Christian burial for John Royce, 70, of Tyler is scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 31, 2010 at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church with Father Luis Larrea and Msgr. Joseph Strickland officiating. Burial is at Tyler Memorial Park.
Mr. Royce passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 in Tyler.
He was born on April 3, 1940 in Athens to the late William and Myra Smith Royce. He served in the U. S. Navy, was a member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. He owned and operated Royce’s Meat Market for years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and a Eucharistic minister for his church. He helped tremendously through St. Vincent DePaul Society and the people of the community of North Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his son, John William Royce I and a brother, George Sparkman
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia Royce of Tyler; sons, John William Royce and wife Tracie of Chandler and Michael Joseph Royce and wife Christine of Liberty city; daughters, Diana Lynn Mandujano and husband Manuel of Tyler, Mary Alice Tijerina and husband Lupe of Tyler and Elizabeth Ann Montoya and husband Carlos of Georgia; brother, Gerald Royce of Virginia; sister, Marilyn Roppolo and husband John of Carrollton; 20 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
A rosary will be at 6:00 P.M., Friday at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
He will be loved and missed by all those whose lives he touched.
