Jeri Sue was raised in Tyler and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1987. She spent over 30 years working as a dental assistant for various dentists throughout the Tyler area, where her compassion and calm presence comforted countless patients. She also served faithfully as the Administrator for Church Under a Bridge, a role that reflected her deep love for helping others.
In her spare time, Jeri Sue found joy in the simple things—collecting rocks, fishing, cooking, walking the beach, hiking in the mountains, and cheering on her beloved LSU Tigers—Geaux Tigers! She especially loved spending time with her loyal dog, Perry, and could often be found outside feeding the cows next door or planning new adventures with her husband, best friend, and soulmate, Bobby.
Jeri Sue was a wonderful cook who took great pride in making meals that brought comfort and joy. She strove to have a home-cooked meal ready for Bobby every evening, and on the rare occasion she couldn't, she made sure he was still well-fed and cared for. Her love showed through every dish she made, and her kitchen was often filled with laughter, good smells, and even better conversation.
She had an incredible sense of humor and was extremely funny, always ready with a quick comeback, a clever remark, or a perfectly timed joke that could lighten any moment. She and Bobby shared what could only be described as a “hive mind”—always thinking the same thing, finishing each other's sentences, and finding joy in the smallest inside jokes. Their connection was effortless, deep, and full of love.
She was known for her generous spirit and calming presence. She gave freely of herself to others, always putting their needs above her own. Her devotion extended not just to her family and friends, but to those in her community who were hurting, hungry, or in need. From the very first service, she poured her heart into Church Under a Bridge, serving the homeless and disenfranchised with unwavering compassion.
Her family and friends will always remember her as giving, comforting, welcoming, and devoted—not only to those she loved but to anyone in need of kindness. She had a remarkable ability to ease tension, soothe pain, and offer comfort, even to strangers.
Jeri Sue is preceded in death by her father, Lynn Olan Parham; grandparents Reginald and Carmen Dudley, and James Hearn and Elsie Marie Parham; her brother Tommy Lynn Parham; and her stepfather Roy Clarence Truitt.
She is survived by her husband, Robert (Bobby) Carter; her mother, Charlotte Truitt; sisters Lora Binks and husband Bradley, and Deborah Elbert; nieces Devan Cramer, Jaime Elbert, and Stacie Elbert; many other beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and of course, her precious sidekick Perry.
Jeri Sue’s life was a radiant example of love, laughter, and service. She will be missed more than words can express, but her legacy lives on in the hearts of everyone lucky enough to know her.
A memorial service for Jeri will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Lloyd James Funeral Home, 1011 East First Street, Tyler, TX 757013308.
