A memorial service for J W (Jay) Self, of Whitehouse, TX will be held Saturday April 7, at the South Campus of First Baptist Church of Tyler at 1pm. Burial will be in the DFW Veterans Cemetery on a future date. JW was born in Fairfield, TX on Sept 6, 1934 and lived in Fairfield, Dallas and East Texas most of his life.
JW peacefully joined Jesus & family members that preceded him in death on Saturday March 31st at Hospice of East Texas after a heart attack on Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations in Jay’s name be sent to Hillcreek Baptist Church, PO Box 1287 in Whitehouse, the church that Jay loved and attended.
Jay was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Pat (who passed in 2006). Survivors include his children Don & Angie Self of Whitehouse TX, Kelly Jo & Steve Taylor of Crescent City, CA, 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, one sister -Jorene Clemmer of Blossom, TX - and many friends and families and especially Katie Moss – a very close friend. He will be missed on this earth.
